Fractuur Humerus Zuigeling

Releases 2010: City of Life and Death

The winner of the Golden Shell for best film at San Sebastian is one of the best movies so far this year. Although I have to say from now on, I did not like the masterpiece I expected to see.

The film aims to tell one of the tragedies of war Chinese international audiences worldwide. It's creepy, so creepy as Schindler's List. There are scenes that make your hair stand on end. But in telling such stories in my opinion the director does not have to be as national, it is sometimes a good choice to put an American director in charge of one of the many tragedies in Europe, because if an American tragedy turned, out movies as Pear Harbour, total American. That if the film has nothing to envy from American classics on the second world war as Schindler's List, pianist or Saving Private Ryan.

City life and death is that, although more positives than negatives, a tribute to all those Chinese people who died in the siege of Najing city. Without any topic typical of Americans, the film loses pace at times and just get it back with the chilling images above. There are hardly any dialogues, and indeed quite lacking in this film. To give more strength to these levels with no dialogue the director opts for a very successful black and white photography and a level of Das Weisse Band. If you should not consider black and white that reminded me a lot to Katyn, where the acclaimed Polish director Wajda paid tribute the slaughter of thousands of Poles at the hands of the Nazis.

A story that deserved to be told and seeing the other movies of the year, we have one of the best films so far this year. Meets cinematically in all aspects and in some as the photography is excellent.

Note: 8

Greetings all
